THESIS' ABSTRACT

The PhD thesis explores population ageing as a global phenomenon, analyzing it from a biopsychosocial perspective. The interaction between biological, social, psychological and cultural dimensions is examined, highlighting how ageing is not only a process of physical decline but also a period characterized by resilience and growth. A key aspect discussed is the role of 'wisdom' and emotional skills in promoting well-being. Through a thematic analysis based on interviews, the P.E.R.D.A.S. study delves into longevity in the Perdasdefogu community, highlighting the cultural and psychological factors that support adaptation and quality of life in old age.
