Abstract

This study considers the managerial method of yield management or revenue management and its effectiveness in the context of the hospitality industry. Yield management maximizes revenues or profits selling hotel rooms, restaurant seats, conference spaces, etc., through the management of price, time, demand and capacity. The potential of yield management in improving performance is evaluated through a case study – a city hotel located in Cagliari. A number of factors may influence this performance, including quality of services, customer care, the hotel website, and revenue management.
