Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of endovascular approach in the treatment of traumatic artery lesions. The paper reports the case of a 49-year old male presented with a pulsating mass in the left calf. Five years before he had been victim of a hunt accident. Duplex scan demonstrated a breach in the wall of the posterior tibial artery with formation of a pseudoaneurysm. The risk of nerve injury associated with open surgical treatment was considered very high so an endovascular approach was preferred. A covered stent was placed across the artery breach so as obtain a complete sealing of the pseudoaneurysmal sac. The endovascular treatment of arterial lesions seems to be effective but patency assessment needs a longer follow up period.
