Abstract

The book analyzes Saint Bernard’s Parabolae and tries to understand how these stories were accepted and rewritten in French and Italian areas a century after the Saint’s death. The critical edition of the first and fifth parables’ French translation contains several important observations about these two poems: the anonymous Giostra delle virtù e dei vizi and the Tornoiemenz Anticrit, written by Huon de Mery.
