Abstract

The contribution focuses on a marble bas-relief, which presumably was the predella of a lost marble retable (altarpiece). The slab is nowadays preserved in the parish house of Bitti. There are represented in continuous series the scenes with Christ as Man of Sorrows with two angels (in the middle), the Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian (left side) and an unidentified person kneeling, which offers a tablet to a prelate sitting on a high-backed chair (right side). The research was conducted on the iconographic front, particularly focused on the iconography of Christ who holds the open arms.
