Arte, magia e disincantamento del mondo tra Boiardo e Ariosto
Confalonieri, Corrado
2021-01-01
Abstract
The article investigates Boiardo’s and Ariosto’s treatments of the relationship among nature, art, and magic in the Inamoramento de Orlando and in the Orlando Furioso, showing that Ariosto’s more precise distinction between art and magic is the result of a process taking place before the second edition of the poem, when he probably composed the Cinque Canti. This difference is first interpreted as a sign of the disenchantment of the world and then used to reconsider the questions of irony and the representation of reality in Boiardo’s and Ariosto’s poems.| File | Size | Format | |
