Abstract

In this paper we give a brief overview of some basic ideas involved in studying breakdown of stability in some first-order non linear differential equations arising from economic-financial models. We analyze the local dynamics of some general non-linear disequilibrium models. We use bifurcation and chaos theory and study the effect of a change of a structural parameter of the model upon the solutions as the steady state loses stability. A numerical simulation of the solutions of the models is presented.
