Abstract

The paper deals with the topic of the architectural project in contexts characterized by climatic fragil- ity, in particular by the discontinuity of rainfall that causes problems of excess and shortage of water. For the urban areas have been developed a series of techniques for bringing the areas at risk closer to urban communities and spaces; rethinking the spaces of the countryside can restart from a new focus on the construction techniques that have regulated and transformed it over the long term. Climatic intermittency represents a form of continuity for certain areas that have always been exposed to the narrowness of a problematic climate and the long-lasting construction techniques have absorbed the rhythms of these in their forms. Through a series of didactic experiences developed within the project and construction laboratories and optional courses of the University of Cagliari, nine practices are shown that are based on the long-lasting techniques that have given shape to the landscapes of Sardinia and that start from these for a new project that is rooted in the place and which constitutes a new opportunity to build collective spaces in the countryside, once a constant of rural spaces.
