Abstract

The power conditioning system to supply the DC power systems of an ultra-light all-electric aircraft (AEA) through a single battery pack has been examined. Specifically, the Triple Active Bridge (TAB) performance evaluation for interfacing the battery pack with the DC buses committed to feeding the electric propulsion and auxiliary power systems has been prototyped and experimentally verified. The start-up and voltage control system has been designed and verified by simulation and experimental results considering the standard DC bus voltages for avionic applications of 270 and 28 V. The outcomes confirm the feasibility of using TAB as a power conditioning system for interfacing the AEA's battery pack with the DC power system revealing good energy and dynamic performances.
