Praescriptio lenocinii

Abstract

The morphology of the praescriptio lenocinii differs from the other praescriptiones established in the criminal causae cognitio during the Principatus. The praescriptio lenocinii is described in the contradictory sources of the Compilation, that seem to treat it, in such a way that has led authoritative scholarship to consider it to be of Justinian make. The essay challenges this conclusion, taking in account the controversial stages of the formation and consolidation of that procedural remedy during the 3rd century AD.
