Abstract

A model reference approach is proposed to control induction motor drives. Referring to a CRPWM inverter supply, a simple linear, time invariant and decoupled second order reference model is assumed. Using Lyapunov's stability theory, a nonlinear controller can be synthesized. Field oriented and other algorithms can be easily imposed on the reference model, expressed in stator coordinates. Computer simulation results concerning the field oriented algorithm show very fast tracking of the reference state space trajectory and indicate expected drive performances.
