Abstract

The paper reports the evaluation of a SiC-based three-phase inverter for the energy management of Sodium Metal Halide battery oriented to manage the power intermittency of renewable energy sources (RES). The power converter was firstly designed referring to a specific case study and subsequently prototyped. The control algorithm for managing the power flow was first developed and then tested. The performance in terms of current THD and energy efficiency has been evaluated. The experimental results confirm the expected design performances and the feasibility of using the proposed ESS configuration for managing power intermittency generation of RES-based microgrid
