Abstract

This work presents the first results of the ongoing study of the structure 21 in the Nuragic settlement of Brunku ‘e s’Omu, Villa Verde (OR), dated back to the Final Bronze Age. In the activities carried out within this structure, a key role was probably assigned to a large pottery vessel with “X” handles (ziro con anse ad X). The investigation of this big-size vessel is conducted by balancing analytical needs and restoration strategies, in order to contribute to the overall functional interpretation of the structure. Based on the organic residue analysis by GC-FID and GC-MS, a preliminary hypothesis is proposed about the vessel use and the function of the structure in the storage and handling of liquids.
