Abstract

This book represents the main outcome of a multidisciplinary research project aimed at investigating the impact of fake news and disinformation on public opinion, governments, and international relations in the European, American and Asian contexts. The use of case studies will help readers to better understand impacts and outcomes on both the domestic policies and international relations, throughout history and with reference to different political contexts. In particular, Borzoni's contribution aims to shed light on little known aspects of the public diplomacy of the Administration led by Ronald Reagan and specifically on the genesis, implementation and legacy of Project Truth, destined to play a priority role within the information and US propaganda regarding the Soviet Union in the context of the first presidential term
