Abstract

The paper analyzes the Covid-19 impact on Italian ministries and institutions’ communicative practices and working routines, considering their communication offices organizational cultures. Moreover, it explores the role of social media in changing the process of information diffusion during the pandemic. Thirty interviews with Social Media Managers and Heads of the press office of 23 Italian governmental institutions were carried out. The results highlight that institutions with a stable organizational culture present a traditional-bureaucratic communicative attitude towards digitalization. On the other hand, other institutions, in rearranging their practices, have shown their attitude to readiness and digitalization.
