Abstract

The analysis of migratory flows recorded in the last 15 years in the database of the Italian Association of haematology and pediatric oncology (AIEOP) shows that foreign patients hospitalized for cancer or leukemia in the Aieop Centers represent 7,8 percent of the 14,738 registered patients. Our contribution intends to provide the partial results of a research conducted with a group of Iraqi citizens, 4 adults and 2 children, coming to Italy for medical treatment, in the Oncohematology Department and the Transplant Center of the Microcitemico Hospital of Cagliari, Sardinia. The contribution takes into account the planning and experimentation of an educational path in Italian L2 aimed at children and their families, with the creation of a syllabus and ad hoc materials designed for this learner profile as well as a qualitative analysis of the authentic interactions in which learners are involved.
