Abstract

In this note, we illustrate the history, the current state and the future development prospects of one of the most important geo paleontological museums of Sardinia. The Museo PAS - Martel, or Museum of Sulcitanian Palaeoenvironments, was created to expand and upgrade the original municipal Museum of Palaeontology and Speleology “E.A. Martel”, born in the 70s from contributions of the Gruppo Speleologico “E.A. Martel” of Carbonia, professors and researchers of the University of Cagliari and private citizens. In recent times, the new exhibition spaces made available by the Municipality in the Grande Miniera di Serbariu area, allowed a qualitative improvement of the museum itinerary, a development of new educational activities and a substantial increase in the number of visitors.
