Abstract

The Italian word “mazzerati”, which is in the “Comedy” of Dante Alighieri, has been analyzed in the etymology, in the comparison with the languages of the Middle Ages, to arrive to the meaning by whom it was used in the XIII century. The study analyzes materials regarding Brunetto Latini, the tradition of Dante’s commentaries, Italian ‘volgarizzamenti’ of the XIII century, and “volgarizzamenti“ close to the activities of Frederic II.
