Abstract
Ethics and banking: Is it a winning partnership? The case of Banca Popolare Etica It has been a long time since the economic debate has started a conceptualization of the economy based on a set of ethical principles, in order to revise the functioning mechanisms of current economic systems. The model is that of Solidarity Economy, which focuses on people, the quality of life and the environment, with a view to fair and sustainable development. The Ethical Finance is placed within this framework, with the aim of directing the flow of money towards a social use, that is combining the traditional mechanisms of finance with the objectives of the solidarity economy. In this context, the activity of Banca Popolare Etica represents an example of a differently oriented banking activity for Italy. In light of the latest devastating crisis, the model proposed by “Banca Etica” has shown that a finance which is responsible and well-connected to the real economy is, not only feasible, but can also give generous profits in the medium / long run. For these reasons, a careful reflection on this banking model is needed.File | Size | Format | |
