Abstract
In the present work, we analyze the poetic self-translations of the Puerto Rican author Rosario Ferré (1938-2016). It is a significant case study of how the autotraductor becomes a mediating agent in the sociocultural contexts in which it moves, interacting in an inseparable way with the tensions constantly negotiated. In a game of changing translative strategies, in which the self-retraining creative dominates, Ferré's rewritings reflect not only on the dynamics of power between languages and cultures, in particular between the English and Spanish languages, on the island of Puerto Rico, but also about the phenomena of migration and the presence of Latin communities in the United States.File | Size | Format | |
