Abstract

Ludovico Geymonat and Carlo Mazzantini have been two eminent students of Erminio Juvalta. Following separate runs, both strove to bring the attention of the philosophical public on an acute and original thinker, not sufficiently appreciated, like their common teacher appeared to themselves. Departed by contrasted positions, their reading of Juvalta’s works has informed two separate traditions of thought, problematically returning an unsolved image of his reflection. Nevertheless, on the plan of philosophical historiography this "contention" around Juvalta’s inheritance - whose different moments this review intends to illustrate critically - has not represented a limit; on the contrary, it fed a productive critical comparison between two different philosophical schools.
