Abstract

Saffron spice production is a long process requiring a huge effort in terms of labour and costs. Here, a new mechanised method to orient the flowers to allow a successive separation of stigmas from saffron flowers is described. In addition, a proposed model has been validated by experimental tests, which defined the terminal velocity of the saffron flowers having given masses and geometries.
