Abstract
The book census produced at the end of the XVIth century during the so-called Inquiry of the Congregation of the Index (Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, mss. Vaticani Latini 11266-11326), is a documentary source of extraordinary interest for the study of the circulation of books among regular Orders Italians in the modern age. The overwhelming mount of data available to scholars is especially suitable for a quantitative analysis and, in this perspective, the paper offers a first survey on the distribution in terms of numbers of copies of the most frequent editions in the library lists of the Italian religious Orders.File | Size | Format | |
