Abstract

The article want to honour one of the most important educators and pedagogues of the XX century, the Brazilian Paulo Freire, after ten years from his death in 1997. The author demonstrates the actuality of Freire's thinking, since his theory, born to answer to the needs of the lower classes of the Brazilian society, appears to work for all the societies where we can find social classes suffering from a material and cultural dependency and wishing to rediscover their own cultural and human identity. Secondly the article demonstrates that the literacy theory and that enhancing individual experience are particularly effective in educating adults.
