Abstract

Drawing on an ethnographical research concerning the implementation of the Sardinian regional project ‘Scuola Digitale’ (2012-2015), this article aims at analysing the interconnection between social and material in the shaping of everyday school life. The authors question empirical data in the attempt to overcome the separation between the social dimension of human agency and the regulating power incorporated into things. Two main concepts are mobilized: the notion of device and the notion of disposition (habitus), connected – as suggested by Callon et al. (2007) – by the notion of ‘agencement’ derived from Deuleuze. In this way, the result of this connection between Bourdieu’s theory of practice and ANT is an exegesis that overcomes traditional oppositions and that reverses the relation between the social and material dimension within the sociological analyses to produce a materialsocial vision of the school class.
