Abstract
The essay analyses a report of Tommaso Cornelio published in Francesco Nazari's «Giornale de'Letterati», concerning the discovery of a skeleton, digged out in a cave located near to the ruins of a temple. Cornelio's report and the debate arisen amidst some members of the "Accademia degli Investiganti" represent an interesting confirmation of the so-called "persistence of giants".
