Abstract

In this study we compare the performances of beginner students working for the first time with cooperative learning activities. Sixty-two students were randomly assigned to one of the following conditions: individual learning, cooperative learning in couple and cooperative learning in groups. Cooperative learning groups and couples worked with the role interdependence method. During the task students had to learn, working in their condition, a material about the “education to health” and complete a questionnaire individually. After they complete the questionnaire, they were asked, using a five point Likert scale, about their level of appreciation about their activity and about their perception of how well they achieve their aim. Results show that students working in couples perform better than students in the other conditions. They show a better level of appreciation and a better perception of how well they achieve their aim.
