Abstract

We describe the case of a 64-year-old man who presented with bowel obstruction secondary to migration of a hepatic hydatid cyst into the colon. Imaging demonstrated a Hepatic-colonic fistula and a calcific cyst stuck within the sigmoid lumen. We also describe how it was possible to resolve the obstruction endoscopically, trough fragmentation of the cyst’s calcific wall, thus avoiding emergency surgery. A review of the English literature showed that a similar scenario have never been reported. Its management was also original and tailored to this particular case, as it resulted from a combination of different endoscopic procedures.
