Arianna Careddu is a Research Fellow at the University of Cagliari, where she completed her PhD in Philosophy and Theory of Languages. Her research lies at the intersection of philosophy of language, visual and multimodal communication studies, mediology, and film studies. Her work focuses in particular on visual and multimodal metaphor, processes of representation and recognition, audiovisual languages, and forms of digital communication. A central strand of her research examines the representation of disability in institutional and digital media, and the ways in which visual, narrative, and metaphorical configurations contribute to the construction of agency, belonging, recognisability, and possibilities for self-representation. Her approach combines philosophical, semiotic, and multimodal analysis, and extends to the study of the symbolic and temporal forms of cinema and contemporary media environments. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Rivista Italiana di Filosofia del Linguaggio (RIFL).
