Giuliano Mion is Full Professor of Arabic Language and Literature, University of Cagliari. He completed his education at Sapienza University of Rome, where he graduated in Oriental Languages and Civilizations (Arabic, Hebrew), and later obtained a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a thesis on Arabic dialectology and speaker recognition. He has taught Arabic language and literature, Arabic linguistics, and Semitic linguistics, at the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, the University of Bergamo, the Luspio Free University of Rome, and at Sapienza University of Rome, where he taught in special courses for both the Ministry of Foreign  Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. In France, he obtained from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research the habilitation to the functions of “Maître de Conférences” (2012) and to the functions of “Professeur des Universités” (2018), while in Italy he obtained the habilitation to the functions of “Full Professor” (2018). He carried out fieldworks in many Arab countries, and in particular Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco. He participated in international conferences on Arabic and Semitic linguistics in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Oman, Romania, Spain, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and he is a member of the Association Internationale Arabe de Dialectologie (Aïda).
