Stefano Lai obtained the Bachelor and Master Degrees in Electronics by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Cagliari, in 2007 and 2010 respectively, with the mark 110/110 magna cum laude in both cases. In 2014, he obtained the PhD in Electronics by the PhD School in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Cagliari. In the same year, he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Cagliari as Research Fellow. From 2018 to 2021, he was Assistant Professor in the field of Bioelectronics at the same Department. In 2019, he also was Visiting Scientists at IBEC (Institute for Bioengineering of Catalunia) in Barcelona.

He is currently Senior Assistan Professor (Tenure Track) in Bioengineering.

His research topics involve the application of innovative devices and process to sensing and biosensing applications. In particular, he focus on the application of organic semiconductor-based devices to physical, chemical and biological sensing.

He is author of 45 among papers in international, peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He is inventor in two international patents, and participated as presenter to 15 international conferences (5 times as invited speaker)
