Collaborations with Industry

Over the past years, our PhD program has actively fostered collaborations with the industrial sector by offering a number of doctoral scholarships involving or co-funded with high-tech companies, both in Italy and abroad. Each scholarship included a mandatory research placement of at least six months within the company, giving PhD students the chance to apply their scientific expertise in real-world contexts and contribute to the development of innovative, cutting-edge solutions.

By bringing young researchers closer to the world of industry, these initiatives directly support the university’s "third mission": transferring knowledge, skills, and innovation to society. Beyond enhancing the students’ transferable skills, these experiences often serve as a stepping stone to postdoctoral employment, underlining the strategic role of the PhD program in preparing researchers to thrive not only in academia but also in the wider professional world.
