THE STUDY PROGRAM IS AWAITING INITIAL ACCREDITATION.

Once accreditation is obtained, it will be active starting from the academic year 2024/2025.

The Master's Degree Course in Advanced Biotechnology (Class LM-9) aims to provide master's graduates with advanced tools and multidisciplinary skills aimed at the design, development and application of innovative biotechnological processes for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetics, innovative materials and nanotechnology sectors.

The Master's Degree Course is delivered entirely in English. Year 1 is aimed at providing the fundamental knowledge related to drug discovery and development, fermentation biotechnology and biotechnological drug analysis, Green Chemistry and synthesis of bio-conjugates, preclinical drug testing, assays used in the development of bioactive molecules for the treatment of infectious diseases, cellular and molecular bases associated with cancer and tissue regeneration, and the use of nanomaterials applied to biotechnological and diagnostic drugs.

Year 2 provides in-depth knowledge of the various "omics" sciences that enable detailed characterization of molecular, physiological, and pathological processes of complex biological systems, the bioinformatics and computational approach applied to the study of drugs, the manufacture and formulation of biotechnological drugs, and principles of bioethics, clinical trial design, and pharmacovigilance.

The educational path of the Master's Degree in Advanced Biotechnology requires a total of 120 University Educational Credits (CFUs) for the achievement of the degree. The student earns the degree by successfully taking 11 exams, which ensure the acquisition of the knowledge and soft skills necessary for the master's biotechnologist.

In addition, there are 12 CFUs for student choice, 11 CFUs for final examination and 15 CFUs for internship.

Enrollment in the CdLM is subject to meeting the curricular requirements and verification of the adequacy of personal preparation, in accordance with the CdLM Teaching Regulations.

The CdLM in Advanced Biotechnology is in line with the needs of the market and responds to the need for the training of professionals with specific skills with respect to biotechnological techniques applied to drug design, research, development and production; structure, function and analysis of biological macromolecules; techniques-analytical applied in biological-molecular genetic, biochemical, pathological, microbiological, pharmacological, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical fields; and pharmaceutical formulation.

The expertise gained will ensure appropriate employment outlets, both nationally and internationally, which include universities and public and private research institutions; biotechnology industry and services; pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry; cosmetics industry; nutritional products industry; diagnostic devices industry; scientific instrumentation industry; public and private health care field agencies; drug regulatory bodies and agencies; biopharmaceutical consulting bodies and agencies; environmental prevention and control bodies and agencies; and national and international regulatory and/or certification agencies.

In particular, master's degree graduates in Advanced Biotechnology, based on the current Presidential Decree No. 328/01, can enter the profession of Senior Biologist (sect. A of the register) upon passing the relevant state exam.

Providing teaching in English allows graduates to a more easily access to higher education paths (doctorates, master's degrees, graduate schools) at the international level. In addition, the internationalization of the educational pathway significantly increases the employment prospects of graduates in a labor market that precisely in this extremely specialized field possesses not only a national but also a European and non-European dimension.
