The UNICA CLA English language project is available for all students enrolled in any Degree Programme on or after the 2019/2020 Academic Year (both standard undergraduate and 5-year programmes).

From 9 February 2023, students enrolled in the Economics & Management of Tourist Destinations programme based in Oristano will be able to take their placement tests and competence assessments (A2, B1 and B2 Levels) locally, in the Consorzio UNO offices, Room E.

The timetable and enrolment procedures already published still apply.

Please make sure you select the list for Oristano as you enter your details when registering on Moodle, using your personal ESSE3 login details to access the Moodle platform for registration.

English Language Study Resources

The University of Cagliari’s Language Centre (CLA) provides its students with various resources to study English and reach their objectives. These include:

1.           Self-learning courses at A2 and B1 level (links on CLA website - General and UNICA-CLA).

2.           A peer-to-peer tutoring service, where students can schedule appointments with student tutors on Teams: please send an email to tutorato.cla@unica.it.

3.           Information on language tests and self-study resources for levels A2, B1, and B2.

4.           Office hours with Professor Olga Denti twice a week for students seeking assistance with clarifications, information, explanations, test mistakes and help.

5.           Office hours  with Dr. Alessio Pisci twice a week for further assistance on grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading comprehension skills. Check CLA homepage, in the News area (https://web.unica.it/unica/page/it/ricevimento_studenti__dott_alessio_pisci)

English language for students enrolled before 2019

For all students enrolled before 2019/2020 (except those entolled in Administration & Organization and Political Science Degree Programmes), a computerised Level Assessment TEST administered by the University Language Centre replaces the English language exam.

The assessment will be in TEST form only, with no spoken assessment; and its outcome will be a binary PASS or FAIL result, without the award of a mark.

PLEASE NOTE: Starting from November 2022, the University Language Centre will allow each student to attempt the English Language Test up to three times per level (not per academic or calendar year). After three failed attempts, students will not be allowed to sit the next available test (in other words, they will need to skip the next scheduled test session), in order to ensure that they give themselves enough time to improve their competence.

Registration
The standard ESSE3 procedure applies for test registration.
Students will receive the actual timetable for sitting the language test after the deadline for ESSE3 registration, indicating both test date and time in case of rotation.

Test Venue
Students will sit the test in person in Room 58 at the University Language Centre – Sa Duchessa; any change to the default venue will be communicated in a timely manner.

From 9 February 2023, students enrolled in the former Economics & Management of Tourist Destinations programme and in the Economics & Management of Tourist Destinations curriculum of the Business and Economics Programme based in Oristano will be able to take their placement tests and competence assessments (A2, B1 and B2 Levels) locally, in the Consorzio UNO offices, Room E.

Scheduled Tests
The next available TESTS are scheduled for:

  • 20th June 2024
  • 18th July 2024
  • 19th September 2024
  • 22nd November 2024

Test results will be published  on each Programme website, on the section "Teaching"> "Foreign Language Teaching"> "English language for students enrolled before 2019".
