The Department of Life and Environmental Sciences (DiSVA) has been created in 2011 (DR 270, 24/01/2011) by combining the former departments of Animal Biology and Ecology, Applied Sciences, and Botanical Sciences. In 2012, after a further renovation and reorganization, DiSVA has significantly expanded thanks to the inclusion of researchers from the former Departments of Experimental Biology, Inorganic and Analytic Chemistry, Drug Chemical Technologic, Biomedical Sciences and Technologies, Toxicology.

DiSVA promotes and coordinates research and teaching in the fields of life, environmental and pharmaceutical sciences.
