UniCa Nursing – Nuoro Teaching Elective activities

Elective activities

What are elective activities?

These are activities chosen independently by the student, provided they are consistent with the educational path, from among the following types:

  • additional internship activities (based on a project to be approved by the General Internship Coordinator);
  • additional level of English language proficiency (already defined in the English regulations or to be defined for each course) that can be acquired through a placement test or additional course to be agreed upon with the academic office;
  • seminars/conferences/training courses
  • courses offered at the University
  • validation of previous academic careers, exams, master's degrees or professional activities, etc.

The Class Council may provide guidance by presenting a range of activities that are particularly relevant to the programme, indicating the corresponding credits (CFU). Although formally included in specific years and semesters, elective activities may be carried out and acquired at any time during the programme, even if they exceed the required number of credits.

For all seminars/conferences or courses not organised by the Degree Programme, forms of assessment of the skills acquired may be provided for.

Consistency of activities and CFU awarding

Credits deriving from participation in events/conferences/seminars/courses/lectures/internships are considered consistent and recognised as Elective Credits:

  • organised by professional associations specific to the student's degree programme;
  • organised by the University;
  • ECM accredited in the specific sector;
  • organised by hospitals.

The allocation of CFU credits for the above events is based on the following table:

Duration Final exam CFU
Full day (8 hours) si 1
Full day (8 hours) no 0,5
Half day (4 hours) si 0,5
Half day (4 hours) no 0,25
Internship (1 week) no 1

Any other type of activity not included among those mentioned above will entitle students to the allocation of elective credits only after prior assessment and authorisation by the Course/Class Coordinator or the Course/Class Council. The awarding of credits will only be possible after students have submitted their attendance certificates (or attendance and performance certificates) on the dedicated Moodle resource and registered on ESSE3.
