THE DEGREE PROGRAM IS AWAITING INITIAL ACCREDITATION.
Once accredited, it will commence in the academic year 2025/2026.
The BSc in Marine Biotechnology and Aquatic Ecosystems aims to train biotechnologists specialized in harnessing the potential of biological resources from the sea, inland waters, and transitional ecosystems. The program aligns with the goals, ambitions, and objectives of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, as well as with the European Green Deal and the Ecological Transition. At the same time, it integrates innovative approaches for the sustainable use of aquatic biological resources, promoting circular economy principles and environmental sustainability.
Specifically, the program seeks to prepare a new generation of biotechnologists with expertise focused on utilizing aquatic biological resources to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of ecosystem services provided by seas, oceans, inland waters, and transitional ecosystems for human well-being.
The program is delivered at the decentralized campus in Oristano.
