Political and social sciences open opportunities for study, research, and professional careers in the following fields:

  • international relations:
    Study of political, economic, and diplomatic dynamics between states, international organizations, and global actors;
  • institutional, political and social communication:
    Analysis and management of communication strategies used by institutions, political parties, and leaders to influence public opinion and political decisions;
  • social research and innovation:
    Studies and innovative practices to address social challenges, improve public policies, and promote societal change;
  • administrative and organizational sciences:
    Study of structures, processes, and policies of public and private administrations to enhance efficiency and governance.

To achieve these goals, the Department provides dynamic and multidisciplinary academic programs designed to equip you with both practical and theoretical skills, preparing you to navigate the job market and tackle challenges in innovation and research.

Your starting point is the Bachelor's Degree: you can choose from three undergraduate programs in the field of political and social sciences.

The Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science has a long-standing tradition at the University of Cagliari while also being a highly innovative program.

Here, you will acquire the necessary knowledge to understand the challenges of contemporary society at local, national, and international levels. At the end of the second year, you will be able to choose between a track that prepares you for the study of International Relations and a track focused on political, social, and communication processes.

By the end of the program, you will have developed expertise in political science, history, law, economics, and social sciences, allowing you to pursue a variety of Master's Degrees of your interest. The curriculum combines lectures, workshops, practical exercises, and seminars.

The Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and Organization Sciences focuses on the study of administrative and organizational processes, developing analytical, negotiation, and communication skills in complex contexts. In this program, you will delve into subjects such as administrative and private law, organizational and economic sociology, while also building expertise in economics and statistics.

The courses will be delivered through innovative methods, combining in-person and online lectures. The use of digital platforms will allow you to interact continuously with professors and tutors and have access to educational materials. The program also promotes practical experiences through workshops and internships.

The Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Innovation, based in Nuoro, is a professionalizing program that trains experts in social work, capable of analyzing local needs, understanding public policies, and developing support projects for individuals, groups, and communities using innovative tools.

The study program is dynamic and combines theory, practical workshops, and internships at public and private institutions, offering a solid, flexible, and future-oriented educational experience.

At the end of these programs, you will have the necessary education to specialize in one of our Master's Degrees, two-year programs that will further refine your expertise in:

  • International Relations
    You will study the dynamics of globalization and geopolitical conflicts through a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses diplomatic, Euro-Mediterranean, African, American, and Asian studies. You will deepen your knowledge of international law and develop a strategic understanding of global relations.
    Additionally, you will have the opportunity to enhance your education with a dual degree in collaboration with prestigious international universities, expanding your academic and professional prospects on a global scale.
     
  • Public Administration Sciences
    You will develop advanced skills in the design, management, and evaluation of public policies, gaining a strong foundation in governing complex organizational and administrative processes.
    Thanks to this training, you will be prepared to take public service exams and apply for decision-making and coordination roles, actively contributing to innovation and efficiency in public administration.
     
  • Social Innovation and Communication
    A dynamic and cutting-edge study program designed to prepare you for emerging careers in political and institutional communication, social innovation, territorial planning, and urban development.
    You will also gain advanced skills in social research, equipping you to analyze and lead societal changes with analytical tools and innovative strategies.

The Department also offers the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. and continue your career in public and private research institutions.
