Abstract
This paper attempts to highlight the question of Turkish nationalism and its impact with Anatolian minorities, from a historical perspective. I discuss a heterodox Islamic/Hebraic group in Turkey known as the Dönme, and address the way that their community has become secular, albeit within a very wide range of personal belief. This study seeks to explain the changing patterns of the formation of a modern Turkish identity tracing the story of the foundation of the Dönme movement, from the sect form to the contemporary minority dimension in the light of the most recent academic studies (by Leyla Neyzi, Marc David Baer and so on) and empyrical experience.]Items in DSpace are protected by copyright, with all rights reserved, unless otherwise indicated.
