Abstract
The project for the Church of Santa Chiara in Sini, a small village in the Sardinian interior, offers an opportunity to rewrite a portion of the fabric of the historic centre, with a process-driven approach which considers long-term action and the continuity of places as the paradigms for reinterpreting the weaves of tradition and renewing meaningful relations with the community. The inward-looking character of the traditional courtyard-house fabrics, the essentiality of the composition and the use of a mono-material approach are the principles borrowed from the building culture of these places, with the aim of conceiving a new autonomous architecture which aims to be rooted in the place and combined with the dejà-là; walls, enclosures and patios are just a few of the typological and lexical elements that the project makes use of as operational and communicative tools in relation to the pre-existing context.File | Size | Format | |
