Giambattista Vico tra filosofia politica classica e nova scientia della storia

Abstract
The article deals with the ‘turn’ from classical Aristotelian political philosophy to the ontotheological philosophy of history that takes place between the De ratione (1709) and the De uno (1720). Vico realizes that practical Aristotelianism does not constitute an adequate conceptual framework for understanding the phenomenon of political decadence. This becomes evident in his ‘ontotheologization’ of the traditional notion of ‘ratio status’, which is not the expression of a ‘depoliticization’ of his thought, but the radicalization of a classic political question: if and how it is possible to save human institutions from corruption.File | Size | Format | |
