El presente estudio es una lectura psicológica de Industrias y andanzas de Alfanhuí, una novela de formación llena de elementos fantásticos de difícil interpretación. Las ideas del autor sobre la defensa de la identidad individual contra la acción coercitiva de la educación y la cultura inducen a considerar la obra como respuesta a La vida nueva de Pedrito de Andía, la novela de formación escrita por su padre, Rafael Sánchez Mazas. La lectura psicológica se apoya en los conceptos de animismo, finalismo y artificialismo de Piaget, que permiten interpretar los elementos fantásticos como una expresión de la conciencia infantil. This study aims to analyse the novel Industrias y andanzas de Alfanhuí from a psychological perspective, being a buildungsroman, or a coming of age novel rich of fantastic elements that make its interpretation a rather difficult one. The author’s ideas on the defence of individual identity from the coercive action of education and culture, lead to consider it as an answer to La vida nueva by Pedrito de Andía, a buildungsroman published by his father, Rafael Sánchez Mazas. The reading through a psychological key rests on Piaget’s conceptions of animism, finalism and artificialism, allowing an interpretation of the fantastic elements as an expression of the child’s consciousness.
