Potere linguistico in aula: il ruolo dell’interprete

Abstract

This paper is focused on the activity of Court Interpreter and on his function of mediation within a situational context involving people of different cultural backgrounds, social status and literacy competence. In particular, the analysis of a sample of encounters in the courtroom, show that interpreter is not a mere linguistic transfer tool, but an active participant in the interaction and underline the importance of his coordinating and mediating function for a successful communication.
