Abstract

The title of this article hints at Henry James’ What Maisie Knew, regarded as an extreme example of the technique of point of view in fiction. Sight and vision in Marguerite Duras’ novel Dix heures et demie du soir en été are the main object of analysis, with regard to both the author’s works of the Fifties and the early Sixties and French literary and cultural innovations, especially the Nouveau Roman.
