Abstract
The main theme of this monograph is the temporality, explored as an expression of the interaction between natural history and ruins of history. The author describes ways in which between the 17th and 18th centuries it was variously configured mutual influence between natural history, philology and the fledgling antiquaria. Paying particular attention to the decisive role played by the reception of classical Greek and Latin texts in the book follow the alternate stages of debate both in scientific contexts as well as scholars, to bring out the methodological affinity between natural history and historiography.File | Size | Format | |
