Abstract
Historical sources produced by sanitary institutions, even during the XIX century, are little studied. We lack both local and general researches on this specific typology of source. This essay firstly gives account of the first results of a preliminary survey on archival documentation produced by hospitals established in 19th century in several mining villages within the Sardinia region called Sulcis- Iglesiente and nowdays held by IGEA SpA Company. Secondly, this paper focuses on bibliographic sources, such as medical reports and the diaries of the so-called ‘travelers’, who visited Sardinia in the second half of the 19th century and that provide us whit a large amount of details related to the many health care facilities established in the new villages founded for exploiting Sardinian mines.File | Size | Format | |
