Abstract
In the making of a collective imagination about Sardinia, that has been built over years of fiction, documentary film and TV newsreels, the shepherd's figure takes a pivotal place. The shepherd's social model was seldom shown as a metonymical symbol of Sardinian cultural diversity. It was questioned in many attempts of critical explication about socio-economic problems of the Region. The shepherd cultural model was also valued into strategies of ecological compatibility, against the upsetting of chemical industry in Sardinia. Now the shepherd as a figure lasts into a constellation of social and political issues that cinema inspects getting on his analysis. This essay tries to focus what kind of results visual anthropology can conclude from this research path.File | Size | Format | |
